Care of your Jewelry

CARE OF YOUR JEWELRY.

To keep your jewelry beautiful for longer, we share this practical guide for their care.

Take it off.

Believe it or not, you should take it off from time to time, especially during the following activities:

  • Sports: Holding a tennis racket is bad for rings with many stones, especially if you're left-handed. Lifting weights can be dangerous if you wear your ring to the gym. You don't want heavy dumbbells to touch your stone.
  • Gardening: There is a risk of the stone breaking or becoming loose when performing heavy gardening work.
  • House cleaning: It's best not to wear the ring as strong soaps or detergents can stain it.

Keep it in a safe place.

  • If you take off the ring for any of the above activities, make sure to have a safe place to put it.
  • Keep it free from lotions, sunscreens, and perfumes. These products can damage your ring. It's best to take off the ring before using these products.
  • These products can make the stone sticky and even corrode colored stones. It's best to take off the ring before doing so.
  • Regularly check your setting.
  • It is recommended to check your settings every six months to ensure they are not loose.
  • Don't swim in the sea with the ring on! The cold water can shrink your finger enough for the ring to fall off. If you drop it in the deep blue sea, you won't see it again.
  • Be careful in the kitchen. Cookie dough, breadcrumbs, flour, etc. Mixing with your fingers is great, but these foods can leave a film on the ring and affect its shine.
  • Don't wear your jewelry in pools and spas - Chlorinated water can react with the metals in your jewelry, causing color changes and even structural damage. Therefore, it's best to remove your jewelry before entering a pool or spa.
  • Remove your jewelry before bathing - Remove all jewelry before bathing or cleaning yourself. Soap can create a dull and lackluster film. By preventing the formation of this film, you can immediately reduce the need for repairs.
  • Store your jewelry in separate fabric pouches to prevent rubbing between pieces and potential scratching.

Keeping it Clean.

Gold jewelry is a safe bet as this material does not lose its shine over time, but it can accumulate impurities and dirt with everyday use. Read these tips carefully to restore your gold rings, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets to their original appearance.

-Pour warm water with a few drops of dishwashing detergent into a bowl and mix well.

-Do not use very hot or boiling water, especially if your jewelry has gemstones, as sudden temperature changes can affect the piece and cause it to crack.

-Place the gold jewelry in the mixture and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. If your jewelry has cultured pearls, we do not recommend immersing them for too long as hot water can weaken the pearl's adhesive.

-Gently rub each piece of jewelry with a soft-bristle brush, trying to reach all the crevices where dirt can accumulate.

-Rinse each piece with lukewarm water, making sure no soap residue remains in any crevice.

-Thoroughly dry each piece with a soft cloth and let them air dry completely.

Avoid direct contact of cleaning products and colognes with your jewelry, as the chemical components of these solutions can deteriorate the gold of your pieces.

Avoid wearing your gold jewelry when bathing in the beach or pool, as both the saltwater and pool water treatment products can deteriorate your jewelry.
